Statement from Ryan Lynch, Connecticut coordinator of Tri-State Transportation Campaign:
"The Tri-State Transportation Campaign applauds Governor Malloy for his leadership in releasing $5 million of transit-oriented development planning and implementation grants. These grants will help keep and attract young people to Connecticut, create jobs and help the State move towards a more economically and environmentally sustainable future.
Each of the eleven recipients of funding should be applauded for their initiatives. We are particularly pleased that the Town of Stratford will receive $250,000 in pilot funding to move forward on its transit oriented development plan and draft ordinance. In 2009, the Tri-State Transportation Campaign and One Region Funders’ Group awarded Stratford a $50,000 Transit Centered Development Community Assistance Grant Program. We applaud the Town for using this seed grant to leverage additional resources for its transit friendly development efforts.
The Tri-State Transportation Campaign looks forward to working with the Department of Transportation, the Office of Policy and Management and Governor Malloy to build upon and institutionalize this pilot program in the coming months.”
The Tri-State Transportation Campaign is a non-profit organization working toward a more balanced, transit-friendly and equitable transportation system in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
