This analysis identifies the most dangerous roads in the tri-state region for pedestrian fatalities. Looking at federal data from 2010 to 2012, it includes factsheets and maps that identify the locations of pedestrian fatalities and the age and gender of those killed. Counties in downstate New York and New Jersey that had five or more pedestrian fatalities over the three-year period were analyzed, as was the state of Connecticut.

These maps show pedestrian fatalities from 2010 through 2012 in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut along with clickable layers that display county, congressional district, state senate district, state assembly district boundaries, and other administrative boundary layers. Click the administrative boundary layers "on" and "off" to see fatalities that occurred within each layer.
The maps rely upon the most recent data available from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Encyclopedia as well as publically available map files from the U.S. Census and county, state and city agencies in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
